What is an agentic workspace?

By Otter Digital Pte. Ltd. · Updated October 2, 2026

An agentic workspace is one place where you start, follow and guide AI agents alongside your projects, files, browser and apps. Otter Beam is an agentic workspace for Claude Code, Codex, Gemini and other agents: the agents run on your own computer, and you work with them from your phone, tablet, foldable, another computer or the browser.

All your agents and harnesses in one place

Otter Beam works with the agent harnesses you already use: Claude Code, Codex, Grok Build, Pi, Oh My Pi (OMP) and Antigravity (agy). Through them you reach Claude, OpenAI models and Gemini; DeepSeek through Codex and Z.ai through Claude Code are supported provider configurations, not separate harnesses.

Every agent chat can be read as a chat or in the real terminal. Available controls depend on the harness. Each agent still uses its own provider account and usage terms.

Projects, chats and messages

Projects
A project is a work folder or code repository on one of your computers. The computer matters: a folder with the same name on another machine is a different project.
Chats
A chat is one conversation inside a project — with a coding agent, or with the people you share the project with. Start a new chat for a separate task, or resume an existing one to keep its context.
Messages
Messages are the back-and-forth inside a chat: your instructions, the agent’s replies and its tool activity, laid out like a messaging app.

For the details, read Projects and chats explained.

Work across devices

Projects live on your computers; you guide the agents from any device. Install Otter Beam on macOS (11 or later), Windows or Linux, then open the same projects from an iPhone or iPad, an Android phone, tablet or foldable, another computer, or the web app at beam.otterd.com.

Layouts adapt to the screen. A foldable gives you a bigger screen without giving up mobility, and an extra virtual display can be sized to your phone, foldable or tablet. When you disconnect, the agents keep running in tmux on the computer.

Files, browser and apps

Team: you, your agents and your teammates

Coming soon (early November 2026): shared projects where you, your agents and your teammates work in the same chats. Projects have four roles — Viewer, Editor, Manager and Owner — and control of a computer is granted separately, never inherited from a project role. See Otter Beam for teams and enterprise.

Your data stays on your computers

The agents, projects and files stay on your own computers. On your network, devices connect directly; away from it, Otter Relay forwards the already-encrypted connection, with no public IP, port forwarding or tunnel to set up. Device keys stay on your devices and are never uploaded, and the relay cannot read your commands, output or files.

Frequently asked questions

What is an agentic workspace?

An agentic workspace is one place where you start, follow and guide AI agents alongside your projects, files, browser and apps. Otter Beam is an agentic workspace: the agents run on your own computer, and you work with them from any device.

Which AI agents work in Otter Beam?

Otter Beam works with Claude Code, Codex, Grok Build, Pi, Oh My Pi (OMP) and Antigravity (agy). That covers Claude through Claude Code, OpenAI models through Codex and Gemini through Antigravity; DeepSeek through Codex and Z.ai through Claude Code are supported provider configurations.

Where do the agents run?

The agents run on your own computer — a Mac, a Windows PC or a Linux machine with Otter Beam installed. Your phone, tablet, another computer or the browser connects to that computer, and the agents keep running in tmux when you disconnect.

Does an agentic workspace replace my AI subscriptions?

No. Otter Beam does not replace the agent provider’s account or usage terms. You sign in to Claude Code, Codex or any other agent on your computer as usual, and Otter Beam lets you use those agents from your other devices.

Can I use Otter Beam on a foldable or tablet?

Yes. Otter Beam runs on iPhone and iPad, Android phones, tablets and foldables, other computers and the web, and its layouts adapt to the screen. On a larger screen the chat list can sit beside the conversation.

Is Otter Beam free?

Otter Beam is free to start. Otter Beam Pro and Premium add advanced voice-transcription minutes (200 or 500 a month) and longer Otter Relay sessions (up to 4 hours or 7 days); direct connections on your own network are not limited by plan.
